Jez started riding in 2010 to fend off the advances of middle-age (after his running career was ended by serious knee injuries in the ‘80s). He has developed a serious passion/obsession for ultra-endurance riding. When cycling for hours at a time comfort on the bike is paramount.
In 2014 Jez was a guinea pig for an advanced fitter’s course run by the ‘father’ of bike fitting Paul Swift (of Bikefit fame) at I-ride in Sussex. Afterwards, Jez realised that it was possible to be both fast and comfortable on a bike with a good fit.
This inspired Jez to learn more about the process, the relationship between bike and rider and ultimately train as a bike fitter. Jez formally trained as a bike fitter under Morgan Lloyd (ex-Team Sky) at Physiohaus in Newcastle. He then completed an advanced fitter's course under John Dennis at Momentum in Gosforth. He is also a Cytec qualified mechanic (Activate Cycle Academy in Guildford).
With his impending retirement from his 31 year career as an Air Traffic Controller, Jez has turned his passion for cycling and working with bikes and created BikeDen; a business focussed on getting you and your bike working in harmony.
